Are external visitors to play experiences required to sign in or complete any working with children checks?

Play Matters has recently updated its child screening policy to provide greater clarity on how external visitors are managed at play experiences. Further details can be found below:

Participant Visitor = A visitor to a play experience that is participating in the play experience. This my include aunts, uncles, family friends, grandparents or in the case of Intergenerational play experiences it may include participants that are unrelated to the play experience member.

Play Matters will accept participant visitors to play experiences without a valid WWC card, however, all participant visitors must be signed in at the Play Experience by the Facilitator.

External Visitor: An external visitor to a play experience may be someone that is attending to provide information or a service to play experience participants. This may include but is not limited to library staff, parenting/child support groups.

Play Matters will accept external visitors to play experiences without a WWC card, however all visitors must be signed into the PMA play experience by the facilitator. Should an external visitor visit the same play experience 7 or more times in a year then they will need to undertake the WWC screening process and apply for a WWC card as per state legislative screening requirements.

Requesting external visitors or incursions

In addition to the above, it is important to advise our Customer Experience team of any external visitors that are planned to attend your play experience by completing the Visitor and Incursion request form - found within the Facilitator portal.
