How can I source resources for my play experience?

Tips for accessing toys and resources to support your play experience

The secret to resourcing your play experience is quality of play over quantity of play-things. Op-shops, online market sites like Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace, and donations from families are all excellent places to look for affordable resources.

Before buying or accepting resources, carefully consider:

  • age-appropriateness
  • interests of the children
  • storage space

What else should be considered for donated resources?

  • Are the toys intact or are there some broken or missing pieces?
  • Are there button batteries or magnets which may cause harm?
  • Are the toys safe for all age groups?
  • Are there choking hazards?
  • Are the toys sturdy and durable?
  • Is the height of any platforms safe for all children?
