Is sales/promotion allowed at play experiences?

No, sales and/or promotion of merchandise and services at play experiences is not permitted. This is enforced to ensure:

  • Families attend play experiences to play and have fun together, and to support each other; having a salesperson at a group detracts from this.
  • Many people feel uncomfortable with party plan and similar sales methods; it is unfair that they be subjected to these while attending a group with their children.
  • Adults at groups are not able to adequately supervise their children while viewing products, catalogues, etc.
  • Insurance does not cover groups or members where a person or company is present for the purpose of selling or promoting of products.
  • Any fundraising for a group using party plan or similar sales schemes must therefore be done outside of group time.

If your play experience is contacted by a company representative, please advise that sales and promotion at groups are not allowed. It would also assist us to stop unwanted approaches to our members and groups if you know the representative’s name, phone number and company and forward this information to the Play Matters team.
