What are the responsibilities of a facilitator?

Key responsibilities if you're considering becoming a play experience facilitator

A facilitator’s responsibilities will change depending on the style and reason for your play experience. Decisions for the play experience should be made in collaboration with the attending families. If you are running the play experience as a volunteer, it would be best for you to share some of the responsibilities with willing group members. These people can be linked to your playgroup as volunteers.

The main responsibilities of a facilitator are to:

  •  encourage families to become members of Play Matters. It’s free for all families!
  • promote a welcoming environment for families attending the playgroup. The welcome is so important and is what keeps families coming back.
  • support the running of the playgroup.
  • communicate between the venue, Play Matters Australia, and the attending
    families.
  • keep your session info up to date and reaffiliate the playgroup every year.
  • manage the attendance system.
  • manage the play experiences finances.
  • manage play experience health and safety (blue card, emergency evacuation, cleaning, incident reports).
