About the theme

In honour of Children’s Day, we are celebrating one of the most endearing qualities associated with childhood – imagination! Through imaginative play, children practice social and emotional skills such as communication, compassion, and confidence.

Combining fantasy and dramatic play, children use their imagination to go on ‘adventures’ or act out familiar situations. This can look like playing dress ups, ‘camping out’ in a blanket fort, or playing mums and dads.

Imaginative play is important as it provides children with the opportunity to simulate social roles and act out real-life situations they have observed. In the process, they practice their language, social, and communication skills.
