Play Matters Australia (PMA) is committed to the safety of children and young people across the organisation.

All children and young people have a right to feel safe and to be safe at all times. PMA will not tolerate any abuse or neglect of children or young people involved with our programs.

At Play Matters Australia, the safety and cultural wellbeing of every child is core to who we are. As part of strengthening our commitment to deepen our understanding and everyday application of the Child Safe Standards we have engaged all stakeholders as part of the organisation to engage with Safe Play Matters training over a year-long period. Commencing in June 2025 through to July 2026.

What is Safe Play Matters?

Play Matters Australia engaged BBSafe Consulting and Connecting The Dots Through Culture to deliver a series of ten one-hour webinars unpacking key themes and learnings relating to the 10 Child Safe Standards. These training sessions are additional on top our mandatory Child Protection Training, and are provided to all team members, facilitators and volunteers to deepen their understanding of the building blocks of safety, including application of the universal principle.

Funded by Queensland Family and Child Commission - white

Safe Play Matters is funded by the Queensland Family and Child Commission's Safeguarding Grants Program, supporting our commitment to the 10 Child Safe Standards in Queensland.

These standards guide us in creating environments where children are not only safe, but deeply respected, valued and empowered.

In addition to creating child safe spaces for children, PMA makes the following statement of commitment to Children:

PMA celebrates children's sense of wonder, playful spirit of adventure, and the creativity, imagination,
and curiosity that drives children to investigate, experiment, and engage.

PMA advocates for children's dignity, respecting their agency and unique capacities to be, do, and know in
ways that are authentic to who they are.

PMA supports children's deep connectedness to people, culture, experiences, and their world.

PMA is honoured to play a role in children's lives and learn from their humour and grace.
