Creating Playgroup Communities
PlayConnect+ is a program of supported playgroups, facilitated music groups, holiday groups and online groups for children 0-8 years with disability and/or developmental concerns, their families, carers and siblings. Your child does not require a formal diagnosis.
The playgroups give families access to safe and inclusive activities based around the core characteristics of high-quality playgroups that prepare children for learning environments.
Support for family is also on hand, including information and advice about other disability support services that we have established partnerships with.
Play Matters Sing&Grow program with a team of Registered Music Therapists, will deliver specialist PlayConnect+ programs in specific locations.
PlayConnect+ is delivered by State and Territory Playgroup Associations as part of a consortium led by Autism Queensland. Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. Go to dss.gov.au for more information.
Our PlayConnect+ Facilitators
Our PlayConnect+ Facilitators have experience in disability, parenting or family support and they make sure playgroups are open, inclusive and centred around the family's needs. Our facilitators work with families to provide play experiences and additional advice and support, to create connections in community and services.
Our Sing&Grow sessions are facilitated by Registered Music Therapists who use the evidence-based Sing&Grow music therapy program to actively support families to improve their health, functioning, wellbeing and connection through music and play.
