Welcome to Townsville Science Week

Welcome to Science Play Matters: Townsville, where curiosity meets discovery in an exciting celebration designed especially for families with children aged 0-12 years! Join us as we turn Riverway Parklands into a laboratory of wonder, packed full of exciting activities and experiments that will be sure to open your children's mind to a world of infinite possibilities. This is a FREE event, but RSVPs are required. Science Week 2024 is not just an event—it's an invitation to embark on a journey of wonder and learning together as a family. Imagine your little ones squealing with delight as they touch, play, and experiment with the fundamental principles of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in ways that are fun, educational, and age-appropriate. The event is carefully curated to cater to the developmental stages of children. For the youngest explorers, sensory experiences abound, allowing them to engage with textures, colors, and sounds that stimulate their senses and promote cognitive development. They can squish, mold, and mix in our sensory play zones, discovering cause and effect in a playful environment. For toddlers and preschoolers, Science Week offers a treasure trove of interactive experiences where they can explore nature, discover the basics of physics, and engage in hands-on experiments designed just for them. Picture their faces lighting up as they watch bubbles float and pop, or as they experiment with magnets and discover how objects attract and repel. Throughout Science Week, families will have the chance to interact with friendly facilitators who specialize in early childhood education. These experts will guide children through activities that are not only entertaining but also lay the groundwork for future scientific understanding. Parents will also find resources and tips on how to nurture their child's natural curiosity and support their learning journey beyond the event. Additionally, families can enjoy live demonstrations where scientific principles come to life before their eyes. With a special appearance from our friends at Hands on Wildlife, both children and adults will be leaving in awe. Science Week is not just about learning facts; it's about fostering a lifelong love of learning and discovery. By engaging in hands-on activities and exploring the world of science together, families can bond over shared experiences and create lasting memories. It's an opportunity for children to ask questions, make predictions, and explore their surroundings with a sense of wonder and curiosity. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to ignite your child's passion for science! Join us at Science Week 2024 and embark on a journey of exploration, learning, and fun that will inspire and delight your whole family. Together, let’s celebrate the marvels of science and create a future generation of scientists, innovators, and curious minds.
