Conceptual Playworlds in Imaginative Play
Marilyn Fleer dedicated her Laureate Fellow project to build world class research into early childhood STEM concepts and provide a research base relating to the nature of conceptual play from birth through to pre-school across a broad range of early childhood settings and homes.
Her work resulted in Fleer’s Conceptual PlayWorlds. As part of this exciting Lunch & Learn session, you will get to hear from the creator behind the research and play as she discusses conceptual playworlds - which are imaginary scenarios based on picture books. It’s a fun and engaging way to foster your child’s scientific curiosity, mathematical logic and design thinking, as well as supporting their social and emotional development through play and connection.
Marilyn will also discuss the freely available step-by-step guides on how to create a PlayWorld. They are designed to work either at home or in local playgroup settings.
