Growing Deadly Brains | Drawing on 60,000 Years of Cultural Wisdom
Yiliyapinya is a First Nations-led organisation that translates brain science into practical, culturally grounded knowledge for children, families, communities and the workforce.
Growing Deadly Brains focuses on nurturing strong, confident, and capable minds from the very beginning of life. In our communities, “deadly” means powerful, brilliant, and thriving — qualities we seek for every child.
Brain development begins before birth and accelerates in the early years, shaped by relationships, culture, environment, and lived experience. When children feel safe, connected, and supported, their brains establish the foundations for learning, emotional regulation, resilience, and lifelong wellbeing.
For more than 65,000 years, our ancestors have raised and nurtured children, passing down knowledge, culture, and strength across generations. Growing Deadly Brains continues this legacy by strengthening the earliest foundations of lifelong growth and success.
