Welcome to Southside Japanese Playgroup
Come along for a fun, friendly and relaxed morning together. Our Japanese language playgroup is for Japanese-speaking parents and children from babies to pre-school (Kindy). At our playgroup we have a mix of organised activities and free play for children, including outdoor play. we also have Japanese book reading, songs, movement, and seasonal craft/cultural activities. Parents take turns in groups organising the activities. Emphasis on fun and cultural experience through the Japanese language. It is a great place to make new friends, play, learn new things, and become part of a community. All are welcome. Our playgroup does not meet during the school holidays.

Types of play
experiences
Playgroup is for everyone. A regular meeting of families with their children aged 0-5, often with set up activities and invitations to play and families to connect. There are playgroups run by community (often volunteer-led), organisations (like schools) and specialist groups too, all supported by Play Matters.
These playgroups celebrate diversity through play-based activities, such as stories, songs, games and everyday play experiences, while supporting children to build identity, connection and a sense of belonging, and helping families connect with their culture and community. Families with an interest in connecting with culture are welcome to attend.
