Welcome to Pasifika Families Playgroup - Deception Bay
Pasifika Playgroup provides play, social and learning opportunities for children from 0-5 years of age. The Playgroup aims to preserve Maori and Pacific culture, through song, dance and language. Pasifika Playgroup is facilitated by one of our Pasifika mums and is parent-led. We celebrate the various Pasifika language weeks in line with New Zealand. The focus of Pasifika Playgroup is always about supporting our children to develop the capabilities that they need as confident and competent learners thereby empowering them as lifelong learners. Parents are encouraged to support our Pasifika facilitator by leading in play, or familiar songs, reading a story book for the children, helping with morning tea and encouraging the children to assist in packing up the playgroup room after the session ends. The playgroup building is BLUE and is near special school classrooms at Deception Bay North State School - ask at reception if you cannot find us. We occasionally have guest speakers and excursions, so please RSVP so you know where to join us!

Playgroup is for everyone. A regular meeting of families with their children aged 0-5, often with set up activities and invitations to play and families to connect. There are playgroups run by community (often volunteer-led), organisations (like schools) and specialist groups too, all supported by Play Matters.
These playgroups celebrate diversity through play-based activities, such as stories, songs, games and everyday play experiences, while supporting children to build identity, connection and a sense of belonging, and helping families connect with their culture and community. Families with an interest in connecting with culture are welcome to attend.
These groups create a supportive space where families can connect, share knowledge and experiences, and engage in play that reflects their unique needs and interests.
