Welcome to Koala Joeys Family Program - Mount Gravatt
A free, interactive oral language program for children aged 1-5 years (9:15 - 10:45am) and babies aged 0 -1 years (10:45 - 12pm) that focuses on empowering parents and carers to use nursery rhymes, songs, dance, movement, relaxation, and stories as a tool to form secure attachments, learn about early literacy and numeracy, as well as further develop emotional and social skills whilst having fun. Parents learn that they are their child’s best instrument and supporter and they do not require expensive toys or equipment to support their child’s development. The program is facilitated by trained professionals from Pregnancy Counselling Link and offers a supportive environment for parents, grandparents, carers, and their children. It is a no-cost program and follows the school term calendar. Please contact us to register before attending a session. As part of the registration process, Pregnancy Counselling Link will complete an intake phone call with all group members prior to their first session. Types of play
experiences
Playgroup is for everyone. A regular meeting of families with their children aged 0-5, often with set up activities and invitations to play and families to connect. There are playgroups run by community (often volunteer-led), organisations (like schools) and specialist groups too, all supported by Play Matters.
Specific playgroup for the early stages of parenting - baby playgroups (0 - 12 months of age) are for families to connect and share experiences, build friendships and community.
These groups create a supportive space where families can connect, share knowledge and experiences, and engage in play that reflects their unique needs and interests.
