We’re delivering music therapy-led programs that build children’s emotional, social, and developmental foundations, setting them up for a confident start to school.

Toddler and preschool age children engage in music therapy by playing a big floor drum outside with dappled light on their faces.

About the Funding

Flying Start partner services in South Australia can use Preschool Boost funding to purchase a range of evidence-informed programs and supports including group-based child interventions, family programs and educator training.

Flying Start partner services can search the online directory (of which Sing&Grow is a supplier) to filter supports by AEDC domain, delivery region and mode, support category, program type and cost.

Once Flying Start partners have added services to the plan, they gain approval from the local OECD team before purchasing.

Sing&Grow Off to School (OTS)

The OTS program is for children aged 3-6 years in the care of early childhood professionals. It assists with school readiness, promotion of self-regulation skills, and focuses on developing social skills, motor skills, literacy and numeracy skills, routines, emotional wellbeing and independence.

As a music therapy program, Sing&Grow music therapists focus on children’s emotional wellbeing, supporting children to understand their feelings, become aware of their peers and their needs, and develop strategies using music as the tool to teach and model these necessary skills for lifelong learning.

Each session includes instrumental play, songs, rhymes, and dancing. Sing&Grow music therapists can also incorporate themes and components from your curriculum into OTS sessions.

Professional Development Services

Our professional development workshops build the capacity and confidence of early childhood professionals to use music more effectively. We have three options - Skills for School, Time for Tunes and Music for Developing Brains.

Skills for School:

Comprised of an online learning module with accompanying workbook, and 3 pre-recorded sessions that early childhood services or educators can use with their groups.

Expected outcomes for this program are:

  • Early childhood professionals will develop: understanding of, and ability to implement, strategies to support social skill development in early childhood, resulting in improved child social competence.
  • Understanding of emotional development in early childhood and ability to model and teach emotional regulation strategies, resulting in increased child self-regulation.
  • Understanding of, and ability to implement, strategies to support communication, resulting in improved child communication skills.
  • Understanding of language and communication development in early childhood, and ability to implement strategies that result in improved child language skills.

Time for Tunes:
Upskill your educators and parents at playgroups to facilitate small music sessions with families and children aged 0-5 years. The Time for Tunes resources are demonstrated in the workshop, then left with the worker or playgroup to support them in planning and delivering their own music sessions.

Music for Developing Brains:
Practical strategies and tools for incorporating music into everyday work with children to support learning, transitions, behaviour management, creativity and fun.
