Celebrating 50 Years of Play Matters Australia

Play Matters > 50 Years

Play Matters celebrates 50 years of connecting children, families and communities through play.

50 BIRTHDAY POST 22-02

A History Book

Author and historian Allison Paterson supported Play Matters Australia to research, collate stories, review archives and write a Play Matters Australia 50 year history book.

Central to this was a commitment to honour the legacy of Play Matters Australia, weaving together a diverse tapestry of stories that have intricately shaped the organisation into what it is today.

The history book stands as a tribute to the power of play and the enduring spirit of Play Matters Australia.

50 YR CIVIC RECEPTION (15)

Civic Reception

On Sunday, 3 December, Play Matters Australia turned 50 years old! To recognise this milestone the Lord Mayor of Brisbane hosted a Civic Reception. The Senior Leadership Team at Play Matters attended, along with a small group of life members and key people who helped make Play Matters Australia what it is today.

The event took place 130 meters away from where Play Matters Australia was founded by a group of Mount Gravatt mothers who met in the back of a hall at Ann Street Presbyterian Church. Two founding members who attended the meeting joined author Allison Paterson as she launched our Play Matters Australia History Book.
